Summer Pop Quilt- The Midnight Version

Every time I make a Summer Pop Quilt, I wonder why I don't make this quilt more often! It's beginner-friendly, so fast and one of Lo & Behold's easier quilt patterns. It shows off large cuts of fabrics for the popsicles so it's really great for show off prints or big cuts of solids. I also designed it to be pre-cut friendly, so choose your favorite Precut 10" Squares or FQ bundle and grab the Summer Pop Quilt Pattern here!

The pattern includes three sizes: Crib (40" x 56"), Throw (60" x 70") and Bed (80" x 99"). I made the Throw size of the pattern which has 30 popsicles throughout the quilt. This pattern is block-based, though, so if you want to customize the size, it's very easy to add or subtract blocks.
I'm calling this version my Midnight Summer Pop, named after that rich and moody dark blue background color. For this quilt, I used the following Kona Solids:
- Background: Windsor
- Ice Cream:
- Crimson
- Pomegranate
- Watermelon
- Azalea
- Camelia
- Deep Rose
- Bellini
- Pearl Pink
- Stick: Caramel
- Binding: Caramel

With the bright pops of pink & dark blue on the front, I wanted something a little lighter and more dainty for the back. I ended up choosing Art Gallery Fabrics Pavalion Teacup by Amy Sinibaldi for her Charleston collection, which is such an adorable soft and subtle print. I love the small florals with the tiniest pops of color that help tie the front & back of this quilt together.
I sent this quilt off to Sara at Stitch Lab Quilting and we both agreed that it needed a pantograph with some movement to help break up the straight lines of all the "pops". We decided on Sunflower Seedling by Mistletoe Quilting in a hot pink thread! This pantograph has just enough going on to give lots of interest and texture to an all-solids quilt top. So pretty!

There's something about the blue background paired with the vibrant pinks that gives this quilt a "glow" to it. I think part of the reason why I procrastinated with finishing this quilt was because I wanted to work on it in the summer time; not only because of the name of the quilt but it just feels like it'd be perfect for a summertime celebration. A July 4th pool party or picnic quilt for fireworks... it just gives off that kind of modern Americana summertime vibe.

Don't forget that we have kits for this quilt the shop, along with the pattern if you want to choose your own fabrics.
