Church Window Quilt Pattern
I'm sure that my inspiration for this quilt is pretty self explanatory. Church Window is inspired by the beautiful stained glass found in an old church window! I've always been drawn to this elongated hexagon shape. The way that they all stack together is so beautiful and interesting to me!
This quilt is constructed in a way that does NOT use y-seams! (Can I get an AMEN?) I also love that this quilt is scrap, fat eighth, fat quarter, 1/4 yard, 1/2 yard and yardage friendly! It is super versatile, probably my most versatile pattern to date!
.
I choose these soft yet bold colors for my initial draft of the design. From top to bottom, they are Robert Kaufman Kona (R) Solids: Pimento, Creamsicle, Peach, Lingerie, White, Desert Green, Seafoam, Sage, Teal Blue and Gotham Grey.
When looking at a church window, or a stained glass window, the widow panes are what make the design/colors POP. I wanted this quilt to have the same effect, so I decided to add some thin sashing. I don't typically like to use sashing in my quilts, but this quilt needed it! I love how it creates a subtle, delicate look, but still gives each hexagon it's own distinct frame. It's my favorite part of the quilt, by-far!

Great news! Cottoneer has a quilt kit for this exact quilt! You can find that here.
Ya'll, check out this quilting! Andrea, of Walker Quilt Co. designed the perfect quilting motif! It really adds to the theme of the quilt!

We brought this quilt ( and a few others) to Alaska with us last month. It was so fun to take #quiltsinthewild photos with my husband. He's a good sport!

Anyways! Back to Church Window :)

After I made my first version of this quilt, ya'll know that I had to make a two color version as well! I was inspired by my 2 color version of First Gift, so I decided to go with Kona Snow and Gotham Gray.

I backed it with this gorgeous Amy Sinibaldi floral. I just love her fabrics!

I have gotten so many questions about these fabrics! In fact, there has been such a demand that I created 2 bundles of them from my scrap fabrics. They were snatched up within 15 minutes! I wanted to run through the list and name as many fabrics as I could.
Going off of the photo above, from left to right, they are:

I've been holding onto these prints for a while now, so it was nice to use them up! I love that this pattern uses big cuts...it really lets the fabrics shine!

Next up, "Peonies in April"! I saw this bundle on Fabric Bubb and I knew that I HAD to have it! As some of you know, our house flooded while we were in Alaska, and we've been displaced for about 3 weeks now. I knew that I was going to have limited time and space for quilting, so I asked my quilting friends for a little help!
.
I sent this bundle to Sarah of @mycrowdednest and not only did she piece the top for me, but she even quilted it as well!
