Homecoming quilt - the "Honeymoon" Version

Can you believe it has been FIVE years since I released the Homecoming quilt pattern?! I designed Homecoming as a gift to myself during one of the craziest times of my life. Long story short, 6 years ago our home flooded from a broken water heater (that was in our attic) while we were on vacation. We came home to most of our belongings ruined, as well as a water damaged home that had to be overhauled. After four unexpected and extremely long months of temporary housing, this quilt was all that I could think about. This design symbolizes warmth, comfort and a sense of belonging. After all that we went through with Hurricane Helene last fall, I really wanted to make another. Since Knitted Blooms has been on my sewing table for the past few months, this quilt was going to be a "just for fun" quilt to help symbolize another "welcome home" of sorts. And if there's anything that both of these events have taught me, it's that home is about love and who you're with, not the things in it.

I wanted to pull colors that resembled the bright light of winter. Blues & creams kept coming to mind and Art Gallery Pure Solids has the most beautiful serene blues. I've spent a lot of time thinking about what "home" means to me and something about this combination felt warm and peaceful.

For this quilt, I made the Throw Size multi-color options which measures 53" x 71". I love that this quilt can be made with 2-colors or 4 colors plus a background. For this exact quilt, all fabrics are from Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids. Here's a list of what I used:
Background: Honeymoon
Colors 1-4:
- Nova
- Cerulean
- Glacier
- Pearl

AGF Honeymoon is such a stunning shade of blue. Paired with Homecoming, it was a match made in heaven. Especially as a Background color! I've heard from so many of you that this quilt would make the perfect graduation quilt. It also has a slight masculine feel, so if there is a guy in your life that needs a quilt...these colors and this pattern are also great combination.

For the backing, I fell in love with Libellule in Awakening by Katie O' Shea for Art Gallery Fabrics. I loved how it brightened up the winter-y blues even more with a little added hint of spring. It's such a detailed and stunning print, I often find myself staring at it and getting lost in all of the details!
For the longarm quilting, I used Megan of Blue Ridge Quilt Co. We chose a light blue thread and the pantograph Swivel Circle by Karlee Porter.
For the binding, I went with Nova, the darkest blue. This gave the quilt a nice outline and differentiation between the front and back.
