Heirloom Hearts Quilt - the Autumn version
The next Heirloom Hearts quilt that I want to share with ya'll was actually the first version that I created! After making two test blocks, I got started with this version...I was just so excited to make it. It's no secret that I love simple, two-color quilts, and while this is *technically* three colors, it still fits the bill. :)

If you didn't catch my first blog post about Heirloom Hearts, you can find that here.
As soon as Art Gallery Fabrics released the new Gingerbread solid, I was instantly OBSESSED. It's the perfect shade of that rusty pecan color that I love so much. When I initially design a pattern, I normally do so in a very simple color way first. I recently created a Vintage Lace quilt that used Macchiato as one of the Background fabrics (read about that quilt here) and I loved how vintage and home-y it felt. So I decided to mimic that with this quilt and use the Snow as an accent for the chain. We have quilt kits for this exact quilt in our shop!

Once my quilt top was pieced, we took it out for photos and it just so happened that the leaves were also changing! We saw this gorgeous red tree while we were driving one day in Black Mountain and I immediately squealed and made Peter pull over for a photo. haha. People driving by probably thought we were crazy, but I'd say it was worth it. :)

I sent the quilt top to Ashley of Hen House Quilting. For a while now I've had my eye on the the "Paradoxical" pantograph by Long Arm League, and this quilt was the perfect match! Something about Heirloom Hearts feels old and retro. The "chain" portion of the quilt gives me a vintage cross-stitch vibe....like what you would see on a handmade pillow at your grandmother's house. I knew that I wanted the quilting for this one to be a smidge more modern, and I love how this pantograph offers that! Not to mention, it does give a "woven" sort of texturized look, which is just so so lovely. I think this panto would work well on any quilt...truly!

Of course, ya'll know that I had to bind the quilt with my favorite, Art Gallery Magnetism. The perfect shade of almost-black! I did a big-stitch binding technique with white thread to finish off the look.

We brought this quilt to the NC Art Museum for photos!

I'm not entirely sure what was so funny in this photo...other than, we start to get a little loopy after hours of taking pictures. haha
